Audi comenzó a anticipar en Europa la renovación del S3, una de las versiones deportivas del A3 perteneciente al segmento C. Lo hace con el S3 prototype, que muestra algunas de las nuevas características del modelo, disponible con carrocerías Sportback y Sedán.
Entre las novedades está presente la evolución de la mecánica, ya que el motor naftero 2.0 TFSI (turbo) recibió una optimización de su puesta a punto y ahora genera una potencia de 333 caballos (23 CV más que el modelo actual) y 420 Nm (20 Nm extra) de torque.
Con estos cambios, más la actualización de la caja automática de doble embrague y siete velocidades (más deportiva y combinada con la tracción integral quattro), el nuevo S3 puede acelerar desde parado hasta los 100 km/h en un tiempo de 4,7 segundos.
Por otro lado, el deportivo sumó el sistema torque splitter (ya presente en el RS 3), que permite incrementar la agilidad y la estabilidad. Está acompañado por el nuevo modo de manejo dynamic plus, mientras que el eje delantero es más deportivo.
La dirección progresiva también fue optimizada y se destaca por su relación variable según el ángulo de giro del volante. Por su parte, los frenos del S3 son más potentes gracias a los discos delanteros con mayor tamaño, entre otras mejoras.
Audi además informó que su renovado modelo incorporará dos nuevos neumáticos con medida 235/35 y un diámetro de 19 pulgadas que brindan un rendimiento optimizado en seco y un mejor desempeño de frenado. Asimismo, tendrá una nueva generación del control electrónico de estabilización.
